On occasion of the Met’s Exhibition on Egypt, I am re-posting images of one of my many “treasures,” a little “Panther” brooch I designed in 1990 …Thus, the Panther (or Lion) on the left is from a photograph credited to the “Centre de Documentation et d’Etudes sur I’Ancienne Egypte,” an “out of print ” catalog (The Temple of Dendur by Cyril Aldred) by the Metropolitan Museum in 1978, and which I still have a copy . The Temple of Dendur was donated by Egypt to the United States in appreciation for “rescuing” (together with other countries) “the 3,000-year-old monuments and temples of ancient Nubia, from an area that was to be flooded by the Aswan Dam…” (UNESCO, World Heritage List)
